On March 20^th, the sixth session of the Sinopec Capital Forum was held, during which Ouyang Xiaoping, alternate member of the 19th CPC Central Committee and academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, made a speech titled Innovative Thinking in Scientific Research.

He believed that the culture of innovation shares some features of a “field.” As a continued spiritual force driving development, it is led by social values and represents an unconscious mentality which can trigger conscious actions after long-term practices. Innovative thinking requires a strong sense of pursuit, rich knowledge and experience, skills in flexible thinking, and actual environmental demands: all of these can inspire people to make breakthroughs, encourage divergent thinking, and ignite imagination. He also used cases in his research to illustrate the concept and methodology of innovation and answered employees’ questions concerning innovation, new energy, and new materials.
The session was attended by staff from Party Affairs and Employee Relations Department, Development Planning Department, Strategic Business Unit of Capital Management and Financial Services, Science and Technology Department, and Board Secretary Bureau of Sinopec Group.
